  • As has been advertised - 2017 Honda CR V

After a test drive, we were sold. Compared to Mazda, Toyota, and Nissan, the Honda blew the competition out of the water. Excellent room in the cockpit. Good handling. Comfortable seats. After 1400 miles, average fuel economy is 35 mpg (half highway and half city driving). The best part is my wife (50) and myself (60) both can adjust the seats/mirrors for good comfort.

I tested this car as was interested in the 2017 revamp. The 190hp is weak and noisy. Sitting in the back seat its noisy there as well. I dont like the shifter being so far up and forward as its awkward and can block controls when in park. Honestly I wish they would bring back V6 engine as most of the fours are so noisy and lack sufficient power. Overall found the car like an appliance rather then something fun or interesting to drive.

My wife decided to sell her 2009 Toyota Avalon and wanted to purchase a new car. We both really liked and enjoyed the Avalon but wanted a car that would sit up higher. My car is a 2014 Toyota Prius, which is our car used mostly around town. So, since we were loyal Toyota owners, we went to the local Toyota dealership and test drove the 2017 Limited RAV4 hybrid. We had assumed that it would be an easy choice to get another Toyota with that being the RAV4. However, we found the RAV2 was a little cramped inside, not particularly comfortable and felt like the cabin was not finished well. For example, it had softex covering the seats instead of leather. There was nothing about this car that wowed us. So, we then decided to test drive a 2017 Honda CRV mainly because of the insistence of our daughter, who has owned several Hondas. Well to make a long story short, we found the Honda CRV to be the perfect car since it was very comfortable with leather seats and roomy. We also like the layout of the dash. After contacting a number of Honda dealerships, we chose Hendrick Honda in Charleston, SC. Our salesman, Sam Latto not only gave us a great deal, but was never pushy and only offered us exactly what we wanted which was a blue 2017 Honda CRV EX-L. Everyone at Hendrick Honda was very courteous and helpful. This car is the best car that we have ever owned. It is a real pleasure to drive this car, particularly on the highway. Since I am a Prius owner, I know how to drive the Honda CRV in order to get good mileage. After just 3 fill-us, we are averaging around 32 MPG in town and around 39 MPG on the highway. The technology upgrade is fantastic and we both love the safety features. The Apple CarPlay is very handy and makes driving even more pleasurable. We highly recommend this vehicle and Hendrick Honda for your next car.

  • Follow up after ownership - 2017 Honda CR V

I wrote my first review based on test drives. I bought the Touring model, loaded, and even added back up sensors and other accessories. I couldnt get what I wanted in my home town, so I bought it in another town while staying with my Aunt and Uncle. They loved it so much they went and bought the exact same car except for the color! I traded in my 2017 Mustang convertible for it (at a huge loss - 58% after 7 mos.), but it was worth it. The Mustang was great in every way except one - I couldnt get out of it. I am a retired senior (68) and it was taking a toll on my joints. My aunt also has knee problems and loved how easy the CR-V is to get in and out of. They traded in a Lincoln Town Car on it, and my uncle appreciates the large number speedometer. This car has a luxury feel, rides smooth and quiet, and has all the driver assist features that I want of the available ones except for a front parking sensor. It is amazing in rush hour stop & go traffic, great in rain. I expect to have it a long time. I think most seniors would benefit from this car, EX model and higher. I wrote about testing the competition (RAV4, CX-5, Escape, Forester, etc.) and there is no comparison for me. Give it a test drive next to other similar ones lilsted above in the same day! Then you will know where you want to spend your time and cruise the blacktop. For me, CRV was a major standout.

I researched several other small SUVs and the Honda CRV is the all around better car in every way!

  • Great road manners, excellent MPG - 2017 Honda CR V

I have driven 3200 miles of which 30% are highway. I am getting 30 mpg combined. On a freeway I was getting 35.7 mpg over a short distance. In the city it more like 27 mpg. The car handles great, very responsive turning, solid hold of the road, digital console is wonderful, I love it. Sound is decent, bluetooth work well. I ended up uninstalling Android Audio from my phone, as I found it is easier to use Google navigation on my phone than setting up the car touch screen. I wish the back seats could slide in and out, but they are ok where they are. Overall cant compain about anything really. Great SUV.

Was in the market for a new smaller SUV & being a newly divorced female after 31 years, wanted something extremely reliable. Did my research online first & having had a couple of Honda Accords in the past, I was familiar with their reliability. Ive had my new 2017 CR-V EX-L for a month now & even drove it on a trip to Gulf Shores, Alabama & could not be more pleased with it. It ticks all the boxes: reliable, smooth ride, comfortable, plenty of cargo space. All the bells & whistles being carefully thought out, so the driver can pay attention to driving and enjoy the ride! Got at least 33 mpg on trip. Had read an unfavorable review regarding seats being uncomfortable, but me and my passengers disagree. All seats are very comfortable!

  • Totally disappointed with CRV-EX-L - 2017 Honda CR V

The CRV uses more gas than expected. I am getting 27 miles/gallon in econo mode which leaves me with low power. Getting on the freeway in econo mode takes time but I dont want to have gas mileage lower than that. The gas tank is very small. When gas is getting low, you get a low fuel message and cant see how many miles you have left on the tank. The controls on the screen are impossible to see especially when the sun is shining on the touch screen. Sometimes it goes dim and you cant see the controls to change the AC or entertainment system at all. Or what they call an entertainment system. No CD player at all! The radio doesnt even play local stations that my 10- year old car played fine. The FM goes in and out and is really useless. You have to pay for Sirius to get any stations. But why pay for commercials?? The car is not worth the price I paid for it. I wish I had test driven it longer and checked out the controls better. If you use the USB for example to play a book, the order in which it plays does not follow the order of the book. It is ridiculous. Update: Several months later, still feel the same about not being impressed at all and do not recommend buying a 2017 CRV.
